Download a Ready Made Itinerary

Instead of spending hours putting together your own itinerary, download a ready made one. This should be a great place to start if you’ve never travelled to this destination before.

List Everything You Need to Take

Make a list in advance of everything you need to take. Do it as far in advance as possible, so you can add to it as you think of more things. You can check things off on the way back too. You might even want to make separate lists if you plan on hiring transport or something similar.

Don’t Fill Up all of Your Time

Leave some free time to enjoy things you might discover while you’re there. Filling up all of your time will always leave you stressed.

Research Accommodation Carefully

Make sure you accommodation will be the perfect backdrop to your stay by researching it carefully, say the guys at HouseTrip.com. Read reviews to make sure it’s right for you!

See the Doctor

Depending on where you’re travelling, you may need to see the doctor to get certain vaccinations. Don’t skip these – you shouldn’t risk your health!

Arrange a Way to Stay in Touch

Staying in touch with your family and friends back home is essential, especially if something were to go wrong. Make sure you know exactly how you’ll stay in touch, either by email, Skyping, or calling them.

If your destination has a foreign tongue, learn a few words and phrases to help you get by. This can go far with locals, and help you to have a much easier time.

Download Apps

There are apps for just about everything these days, from checking the weather to comparing flights. Download a couple that you might find useful before you fly!

Readjust Your Body Clock

If there’s a big time difference, it’s a good idea to readjust your body clock. Start going to bed later/earlier and getting up in accordance with the plan, if you can. It’s never fun being jetlagged when you’re supposed to be on vacation.

Take an Emergency First Aid Kit

Just in case of mosquito bites or scrapes, take an emergency first aid kit. It should contain bandages, plasters, disinfectant, and the like.

Make Note of Important Numbers

Make a note of important numbers you might need while there, like the emergency services. You may not need them, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Above all else, have lots of fun!
