It is a difficult task trying to narrow down a list of fantastic beach resorts to just 5, France has a plethora of fantastic places you for you to stay. The south of France is one of the best places in the world for you to have a beach holiday, people from all over the globe flock there year after year. It’s not only tourists that soak up the sun on the beaches, a large number of French people choose to holiday there as well, there is no need for them to go overseas in search of a beach. The coastline has some fantastic areas for you to catch some rays whilst lounging on the beach; the French Riviera, Provence, Montpellier and the Southern Alps. There really are too many beaches to fit into just one article, so I’ve tried my best to get the top 5 that you should definitely visit. This beach is located in the Nice regions, it is on the peninsula Saint-Jean-Cap_Ferrat. The town is always a popular destination for both the wealthy and the famous, some of the most famous visitors are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie! The beach is divided into two parts, half for the public and half that is privately rented.

Pampelonne Beach

This beach is in the ever popular area of St Tropez, so expect glamour! There are a number of clubs and restaurants along the beach for you to enjoy and spend your hard earned money in. It also has some fantastic facilities such as showers, toilets, lifeguards and you can rent sun loungers.


This beach is roughly six kilometres south of Montpellier. It is a very busy place in the summertime, and has a large seaside resort attached to it. In the town you will be able to find some great seafood for lunch or dinner.

Frioul Islands

This group of four islands lies west of Marseille, you need to take a ferry from the old port in order to reach it. Taking a ferry simply adds to the romance of the trip. Here you will find lots of little beaches dotted around the island, head here if you like escaping the bustling tourist hotspots.

Borely Beach

Another of Marseille’s beautiful beaches makes our list! It’s fantastic for swimming and sunbathing in the glorious weather. Like other beaches on this list it also has some superb facilities; skateboarding park, volleyball area, toilets, lockers and lifeguards. The fantastic surf here attracts a lot windsurfers, so sit back relax and enjoy the show.
