The Belize Zoo

One of the most convenient aspects of this natural haven is that it is located no more than three miles from the centre of Belize City. Thanks to its natural warmth, this zoo boasts some of the rarest and most beautiful wildlife imaginable. In fact, many of the animals to be found here were rescued from danger and will eventually be returned to the wild. The natural setting of the Belize Zoo will allow for some of the most striking photography opportunities imaginable.

Xunantunich

These amazingly preserved Mayan ruins date from nearly three thousand years ago and provide a spectacular window into Mayan culture and history. No less than twenty-six different temples can be found here and the highest stands at a full forty metres above sea level. In fact, the tallest temple is one of the highest structures in all of the country. As these ruins are placed atop a large ridge that is close to the Guatemalan border, amazing views of the countryside and the nearby Mopan River can be enjoyed.

Placencia

This peninsula lies in the southern portion of Belize and is home to some of the most beautiful and well-maintained beaches in the entire country. Also, there are a number of coral outcroppings to be found offshore; many of these protected from boats and local fishermen. Placencia is known for its white sand beaches and waters that are some of the most inviting in the world. Accommodation is notably cheap and Placencia is therefore quite attractive for visitors who are looking to enjoy a bit of natural beauty on what may prove to be a somewhat limited budget.

Caye Caulker

This small island is able to be accessed by boat and even plane. Caye Caulker is particularly attractive to those who wish to experience some of the most beautiful natural settings in the country. Numerous restaurants and bars dot the coastline and foot paths are essentially the only form of inland transportation.

These are only a few of the numerous attractions that can be found in Belize. While this country may very well be a tropical paradise, it is always wise to purchase long trip insurance well in advance. Such protection will give all travellers a peace of mind in knowing that should any unexpected situations arise, they will be in good hands.
